10 Huntsville Police personnel representing 150 years of law enforcement experience receive promotions

The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) promoted four Investigators, three Sergeants, a Lieutenant, Captain and Deputy Chief on Friday, June 16.

During a special ceremony, Officers Cody Izzo, Samuel Lane, Ricky McCarver and Paul Nordan were promoted to the rank of Investigator. Officers Antonio Shorter, Ashley Shannon and Mark Stowe were promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Ricky Stephens was promoted to Lieutenant, Lt. Chris Riley was promoted to Captain and Cpt. Michael Johnson was promoted to Deputy Chief.

These 10 individuals bring nearly 150 years of law enforcement experience to their new roles. They will work in various positions throughout the department with both sworn and civilian personnel.

“These outstanding individuals have unique skill sets that are crucial to the vision and growth of our department,” Chief Kirk Giles said.

HPD has more than 700 sworn and civilian personnel who work to keep the community safe. Promotees will work with Command Staff to perform more efficiently and increase both accountability and collaboration of resources.
