Former SGA Prez Giving Back

AAMU alum and former SGA President Aayana Ingram is returning to campus to give her first-ever TEDx Talk.

“I decided to film my TEDx Talk at AAMU because I felt it was essential for me to discuss this subject at the institution that helped shape who I am today and because I thought it would be motivating for students to know that opportunities like this are attainable.”

The Ozark, Alabama, native earned her political science degree at AAMU in 2019, her master’s degree in political science at Purdue University, and is now a diversity champion and HBCU recruiter with Accenture Federal Services.

“I’ve always wanted to give a TED Talk, but since I’m just starting out in my career, I wasn’t sure if my topic—”Intersectionality: The Missing ‘I’ in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion,” would be interesting or if my level of expertise would be high enough to be accepted. Nevertheless, I persisted and believed in myself, and I finally fulfilled this lifelong goal!”

Ingram will record her TEDx Talk live at Buchanan Hall on Monday, March 27, at 5:30 p.m. It will air on the TED Talks website and YouTube channel in the near future. The AAMU Honors Program is sponsoring this event, and the public is invited.
