Alabama A&M women’s tennis falls to Auburn in season opener

Alabama A&M University’s women’s tennis team began its season with a 7-0 loss to Auburn at the Yarbrough Tennis Center on Sunday. Auburn, now 6-0 for the season, secured the doubles point by winning at both No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Tigers went on to win all six singles matches.

Melissa Mwakha of Alabama A&M (now 0-1) had a notable performance in the No. 6 singles match, extending her contest against Natalie Outcalt before falling with scores of 10-7, 3-6, and 6-0.

Alabama A&M will continue its season next Sunday, January 25, with a match against Samford at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavillion, starting at 1 p.m.
