JACKSON, Tenn. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men’s basketball team started off its road trip with a 76-62 victory at Union on Thursday night in Gulf South Conference action. UAH improves to 21-6 (16-5 GSC), while UU slides to 13-12 (12-9 GSC). 

Chaney Johnson led the Chargers offense with an 18-point performance to go along with five rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals. He went 7-for-12 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Luke Burnett rated second on the squad with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor that included a 5-of-9 mark from beyond the arc, while also nabbing a team-high three steals.

Max Shulman played a team-high 38 minutes, as he posted 14 points, a roster-leading seven rebounds and four assists in a strong all-around performance.

Jack Kostel also had a successful night for the Blue & White, notching seven points, six rebounds, and three steals in the victory.

UAH shot 50.0 percent on field goals (25-for-52) with a 44.8 three-point percentage (13-for-29) at Union, while holding the Bulldogs to 40.7 percent (22-for-54) shooting from the floor.

The Chargers also held the edge over the Bulldogs in rebounds (33-28), steals (10-6), points off turnovers (24-18), and points in the paint (24-18).

UAH has now won six straight GSC games.

The Chargers are back in action on Saturday at Christian Brothers for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
