The public outreach/interface component of redistricting efforts is in swing with the next public meeting scheduled for July 17th in the City of Madison Council Chambers. A presentation will be given at 5:30pm, with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and/or give comment.

**Every 10 years jurisdictions with City Council districts evaluate whether a change to their district boundaries (redistricting) is needed based on the most recent U.S. Census population data. At a public meeting held on September 27, 2021, the City’s consultants presented data showing that redistricting is warranted. The City follows 5 steps in reviewing and implementing redistricting; currently, the City is on stage 3, defining and developing a new plan. Residents are invited and encouraged to participate in the following public meetings.

Tentative Meeting Schedule

Public Meeting – July 17

Public Hearing – August 14

Council adoption – September 11

For further reading, see the available Redistricting Benchmark presentation from September 2021.
