Coach Tommy Tuberville, U.S. Senator representing Alabama, posted several statements on his social media account on November 7, 2025. His posts addressed the ongoing government shutdown, support for veterans in his state, and a recent legislative development.
In a post from the early hours of November 7, Tuberville aligned himself with former President Donald Trump regarding the federal government shutdown. He wrote, “I agree with President Trump: Democrats’ shutdown has gone on long enough. We already know Democrats will blow up the filibuster the first chance they get. We work for THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, not the Senate.” (November 7, 2025).
Later that day, Tuberville recognized Veterans Small Business Week by highlighting an Alabama veteran’s contributions. He stated, “As we wrap Veterans Small Business Week, I am proud to recognize Eric Crocker of Homewood for his service in the Marine Corps. Thank you to all our Alabama veterans.” (November 7, 2025).
In a subsequent post that afternoon, Tuberville commented on what he described as a positive legislative outcome: “Another HUGE win for common sense.” (November 7, 2025).
Tuberville’s remarks come amid heightened partisan tensions over budget negotiations in Congress. Government shutdowns have occurred periodically in recent years when lawmakers fail to reach agreements on funding measures before deadlines. The filibuster is a procedural rule in the U.S. Senate requiring a supermajority to advance most legislation; its potential elimination has been debated as both parties seek leverage during contentious periods.
Veterans Small Business Week is an annual event recognizing the contributions of military veterans who own or operate businesses across the United States.
