Coach Tommy Tuberville, U.S. Senator from Alabama, addressed several political issues in a series of posts on September 8, 2025.
In his first message, Tuberville expressed appreciation to Senate Republican Whip John Thune for efforts to address the Senate confirmation process. On September 8, he wrote, “Thank you, @LeaderJohnThune, for taking action to END Democrats’ historic obstruction of nominees. It’s past time we changed the Senate confirmation rules. CONFIRM ALL OF @POTUS’s NOMINEES.” The debate over Senate confirmation rules has been ongoing for years as both parties have accused each other of obstructing presidential appointments.
Later that day, Tuberville criticized crime rates in cities led by Democratic officials and commented on media coverage. At 17:29 UTC he posted, “Despicable. And the mainstream media refuses to cover this because it doesn’t fit their woke agenda. We must crack down on the RAMPANT CRIME in our Democrat controlled cities.” Recent years have seen increased political attention on urban crime statistics and differing views on media reporting practices.
In a subsequent post at 19:00 UTC, Tuberville voiced support for another official with the statement: “I support @SecKennedy. RT if you agree.”
Senator Tuberville has been an outspoken member of Congress since his election in 2020 after a career as a college football coach.
