Coach Tommy Tuberville, U.S. Senator representing Alabama, posted a series of statements on social media in late August 2025 addressing issues ranging from city governance and public safety to national economic leadership.

On August 27, 2025, Tuberville criticized Washington D.C.’s leadership in a post stating, “Throughout the five years I have been in D.C., I have witnessed firsthand the complete DISASTER Mayor Bowser has created. And it’s not just in D.C.. Across the country, Democrat mayors and city officials have allowed their cities to be completely OVERRUN by crime. Thank God”. This message referenced his time serving as senator and voiced concern over rising crime rates under Democratic city administrations.

Hours later, on August 28, Tuberville commented on a recent swatting incident at Auburn University: “I am grateful that everyone at Auburn is safe. Thank you to campus and local police for their swift actions. Swatting is a serious problem that MUST be addressed. These hoax calls waste valuable time, resources, and put our officers in danger. ANYONE who places these hoax calls”. Swatting refers to making false emergency calls with the intention of prompting an armed law enforcement response.

Later that day, Tuberville made another post regarding Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell: “Today’s a great day to fire Jerome Powell.” This comment comes amid ongoing debates about monetary policy and the performance of the Federal Reserve.

Tuberville’s statements reflect broader national discussions about urban crime trends under various administrations and growing concerns over swatting incidents across universities nationwide. The senator’s remarks regarding Jerome Powell align with periodic calls from lawmakers for changes at the helm of the Federal Reserve during periods of economic uncertainty or inflationary pressures.
