Coach Tommy Tuberville, a U.S. Senator representing Alabama, used his social media account to comment on the state of Washington, D.C., crime rates, Democratic leadership, and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell in a series of posts dated September 3 and 4, 2025.

In a post from September 3, Tuberville stated: “Washington, D.C., is supposed to be a beacon of freedom to the world. But under WEAK Democrat leadership, it looks more like a WAR ZONE. Thank God @POTUS is MAKING D.C. SAFE AGAIN.”

Later that evening, he continued his criticism with another post: “And to every Democrat who wants D.C. and other cities to remain crime-ridden hellholes… SHAME ON YOU. Stand up for LAW and ORDER.”

On September 4, Tuberville shifted focus to economic policy with a brief statement: “Today’s a great day to fire Jerome Powell.”

The senator’s comments come amid ongoing national debates about urban crime rates and political leadership in major U.S. cities. In recent years, concerns over public safety in Washington, D.C., have led lawmakers and local officials to propose various strategies for addressing violent crime and ensuring community security.

Tuberville’s remarks also reference President Joe Biden’s administration’s efforts regarding public safety initiatives in the capital city.

Jerome Powell has served as Chair of the Federal Reserve since 2018 and has faced both support and criticism from members of Congress concerning interest rate policies and responses to inflation during his tenure.
