As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, we at the Huntsville Leader have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Our request seeks detailed information about the university’s current Chinese National students and their affiliations with various departments and scholarship programs.

Specifically, we are requesting documents or lists that provide:

1. A breakdown of all current students who are Chinese Nationals by department, or if such details are protected, a total count along with departmental numbers.
2. Information on scholarships received by these students, including amounts and sources.
3. Details on any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.
4. Policies or procedures regarding how the university safeguards its Intellectual Property and other confidential information concerning all students, including Chinese Nationals.

This request is made on behalf of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to uncovering governmental actions through public records access. As media professionals, we believe this information is crucial for maintaining transparency and holding public institutions accountable.

We anticipate a prompt response from the university to facilitate our ongoing efforts in providing comprehensive news coverage to the public.
