66 percent of applicants to Oakwood University were admitted for fall 2018

At Oakwood University, 85 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 57 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Huntsville enrolled 1,636 students in fall 2018, including 1,581 in undergraduate and 55 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.4 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

16 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 77 percent are residents of other states. 6 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (83 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (5 percent).

The school admitted 66 percent of the 1,706 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 28 percent enrolled.
