John C Calhoun State Community College issued the following announcement on Aug 27.
The Calhoun Community College Adult Education department, through a statewide partnership with the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC), has launched two certified logistics training programs and is now accepting applications. The pilot programs are free to those who qualify and includes training for Foundation-level Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) and Certified Logistics Technician (CLT).
According to Mindi Russell, Calhoun’s Acting Adult Education Director, the programs are taught in two levels and combine interactive, online training with instructor-led material to assist individuals in learning the basic skills and knowledge required for jobs in the logistics field. The first level of training is the CLA program, which provides students with an understanding of the various roles in the global supply chain logistics life cycle, the logistics environment, as well as how to operate and use equipment safely. The second part of training is the CLT program, which is a nationally portable, industry-led program that prepares individuals for front-line material handling and supply chain logistics jobs in fulfillment centers, warehouses, distribution centers, and factories.
“This online training program includes a stackable certification for those who complete the program successfully. It also provides participants with the skillset needed for long-term careers in over 5.8 million supply chain logistics jobs,” added Russell. “There is a growing demand for certified logisticians across the nation, and Calhoun has answered the call by offering a nationally accredited and federally recognized certified training program to fill this industry gap,” commented Dr. Joe Burke, Calhoun Interim President.
