AAMU hosted former AAMU President Andrew Hugine Jr., First Lady Abbigail Hugine, and their family, for the unveiling of the Andrew and Abbiegail Hugine Living Learning Complex Thursday morning.
AAMU President Daniel K. Wims joined local, state and community leaders, as well as former students and longtime Hugine family friends, to pay tribute to the Hugine’s 13 years of service and their tremendous impact on the University.
Members of the AAMU Board of Trustees read the Declaration of the Naming before presenting it to the Hugine family.
The Andrew and Abbiegail Hugine Living Learning Complex also has two wings named in their honor.
AAMU opened the $30 million state-of-the-art, 572-bed residence hall on Meridian Street in 2018.
The Hugines served AAMU as President and First Lady from July 2009 through December 2021.
