Chargers Selected First in GSC Preseason Coaches Poll

The Gulf South Conference announced its 2022 GSC Men's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll on Thursday morning, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was voted first in the preseason prognostications.

UAH finished atop the voting with 117 points and eight first-place votes, followed by fellow regional power Lee in second with 111 points and two first-place tallies. Mississippi College (100 points), Montevallo (85 points) and Christian Brothers (75 points) rounded out the top five.

The Chargers are coming off their third straight GSC championship in the 2021 season, as the squad also achieved it highest-ever team finish at Nationals at 12th overall after earning the berth as the second-place team at the NCAA South Regional.

A total of 15 members of that championship squad return for the 2022 season, including All-GSC performers Allan Anderson and Sam Wilhelm.

UAH is amidst its preseason training as the Blue & White looks ahead to its first race of the campaign on Sept. 16 at the Montevallo Invitational.
