The No. 16 University of Alabama in Huntsville men's cross country team cruised to first place at the Mississippi College Watson Classic on Saturday morning with six runners in the top 10 of the field.
Sophomore Sam Wilhelm recorded his second straight individual title with a first-place time of 24:34.30 to lead the Chargers on Saturday.
Wilhelm's time on Saturday is the 11th fastest 8k performance by a Charger in program history.
Caleb Boys followed Wilhelm in third at a time of 24:47.00, with the Chargers locking down sixth through ninth place by performances from Jack Elliott (6th, 24:57.90), Allan Anderson (7th, 24:58.30), Gabe Henneberger (8th, 25:01.60) and Will Thompson (25:11.80).
The Chargers additionally had four more runners notch top-20 times on Saturday, including Nathan Knox (11th, 25:19.40), Jackson Danner (13th, 25:30.30), Nate Pohlsander (14th, 25:39.80), and Will Anglea (20th, 26:09.00).
UAH's strong team performance also included Taylor Nails (21st, 26:14.20), Alex Ponce (24th, 26:22.80), Peyton Bailey (25th, 26:24.80), Conner Patterson (28th, 26:41.70), James Cain (29th, 26:43.60), Colsen Palmer (30th, 26:48.80), and Mitchell Cook (50th, 28:29.90).
The Chargers return to action at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Illinois, on Saturday, Oct. 8.
