The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team fell to visiting Union by a score of 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 16-25) on Saturday afternoon at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall in Gulf South Conference action. UAH slides to 8-12 (4-5 GSC), while UU improves to 15-5 (8-1 GSC).
The Chargers offense was led by Paris Morris with a team-high 16 kills on a stellar .387 hitting percentage, as she also contributed one total block on the defensive end.
Gracie McGee joined Morris in double-digit kills with 12 of her own, while also rating third defensively on the team with seven digs.
Tatiana Bonilla generated a team-best 13 digs against the Bulldogs, followed by Hailey Holshouser with nine.
Savannah Rutledge helped guide the Chargers offense with a team-high 26 assists to go along with five digs and one service ace.
Union started out in the lead after taking a back-and-forth first set by a score of 25-22, but the Chargers rebounded to take the second by the same score at 25-22 to even the match a 1-1.
UAH notched a .325 hitting percentage on 17 kills to lead the way to the second-set win.
The Bulldogs regained the lead on a 25-19 win in the third, as UU broke away from UAH after the match was knotted 15-15 midway through.
Union would go on to seal its four-set win on Saturday with a 25-16 win in the fourth.
The Chargers look ahead to competing in the South Region Crossover next Friday and Saturday with three matches at the Finley Center in Hoover, Alabama, against Sunshine State Conference foes.
