The University of Alabama in Huntsville women's basketball team hosts Alabama A&M for an exhibition matchup on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.
This will be the first women's basketball matchup between UAH and Alabama A&M since 1998, as the Chargers hold a 15-13 all-time record against the Bulldogs in regular-season meetings.
UAH enters its ninth season with head coach Andrea Lemmond at the helm, as her squad comes off a 2021-22 campaign in which the team posted a 7-17 overall record and a 6-13 mark in GSC play.
The Chargers return nine players from the 2021-22 squad, including Alexis Woods who led the team with 12.3 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per game.
UAH's roster also features six newcomers, with fellow freshmen Haelim Adle and Andie Flatgard both named to the GSC Top Newcomers for the 2022-23 campaign.
After Wednesday's exhibition, the Chargers look ahead to the start of the 2022-23 season next Friday and Saturday in St. Leo, Florida. UAH starts the year next Friday against Saint Leo with another regional matchup slated on Saturday against Florida Southern.
The Chargers first official home contest of the regular season is scheduled for Nov. 19 against Auburn Montgomery, which will also be the start of GSC play for the 2022-23 campaign.
Alabama A&M is coming off a 15-14 overall record in 2021-22 that included a 13-5 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference play, as the Bulldogs ended their season with a first-round loss in the SWAC tournament.
The Bulldogs are led by seventh-year head coach Margaret Richards.
