13 businesses registered in cities in Madison County in week ending Dec. 10, 2022

There were 13 businesses that registered in cities within Madison County in the week ending Dec. 10, 2022, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 19 percent less than the week before, when 16 businesses were registered.

Harvest registered the most businesses in Madison County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
