HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville baseball team fell to Missouri S&T by a score of 15-3 in the nonconference series-opener on Friday before winning a rain-shortened second game by a final score of 1-0 in five innings. UAH moves to 8-6 overall, while S&T's record now stands at 3-3.
Further information regarding Saturday's schedule will be available later Friday evening. Saturday is currently slated for a doubleheader starting at noon, but further rain is incoming to the region overnight and into Saturday morning.
MS&T 15, UAH 3
The Miners put together two rallies in the fourth and sixth inning to propel the visitors to a 15-3 win over the Chargers to start the four-game set at Charger Park.
UAH registered six base hits as a team, led by Garrett Bodine and Mitchell Rottier who both went 2-for-3. Bodine had a team-high two runs, while Rottier notched a double and one RBI.
Landon Ezzell generated a roster-best two RBI while going 1-for-3 against Missouri S&T.
Connor Brooks started on the mound for the Chargers, turning in 3.1 innings with four earned runs allowed and two strikeouts. His record dips to 1-2 with the loss.
UAH 1, MS&T 0
Andre Orselli put up 5.0 shutout innings with five strikeouts, as he was backed by one run off a solo shot by Ezzell in the bottom of the first. Orselli improves to 1-1 with the win.
Ezzell now has three home runs in the 2023 campaign.
