4.3% of Madison County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Madison County recorded an unemployment rate of 4.3% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 8,561 people out of the 382,149 living in Madison County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Madison County has decreased compared to the 4.4% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Madison County was less than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.4%.

Of the 188,936 people who had a job during that time, 1,176 were employed in the Armed Forces and 187,760 belonged to the civilian labor force.
