Today, Representative Dale W. Strong was appointed to serve on three key subcommittees of the House Appropriations Committee during the 119th Congress. Strong will take on roles in the Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) Subcommittee as Vice Chair, as well as in the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD), and Legislative Branch Subcommittees.

The CJS Subcommittee is responsible for overseeing several significant departments and agencies, including the Department of Commerce, Department of Justice—encompassing the FBI—NASA, and the National Science Foundation. "CJS is a critical assignment for North Alabama," stated Representative Strong. He emphasized the importance of this role due to North Alabama's large concentration of FBI personnel and its leadership in space exploration through Huntsville's contributions to NASA. "On CJS, I will advocate for the critical work we do in North Alabama for NASA, commercial space exploration, and law enforcement across this country," he added.

Strong expressed his honor at being selected as Vice Chair of CJS alongside Chairman Hal Rogers. "Being a member of the Appropriations Committee alone is a great honor—but being selected as the Vice Chair of CJS and having the opportunity to serve alongside Chairman Hal Rogers, the Dean of the House, will not be taken lightly."

In addition to his role with CJS, Strong will also serve on THUD which oversees major entities such as the Department of Transportation and Department of Housing and Urban Development. This subcommittee manages one of the largest annual allocations of discretionary funds. On this appointment, Strong remarked about North Alabama's rapid growth: “North Alabama is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. This means we have significant infrastructure needs that affect all of us."

Lastly, Strong will contribute to oversight within the Legislative Branch Subcommittee which covers various entities including Capitol Police and Congressional operations. Regarding this responsibility, he said: “This subcommittee funds congressional operations, promotes transparency, supports security, and ensures accountability."

House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole released a full list of committee assignments.
