Tremendous Week Lands Alabama A&M’s Hicks Second Career SWAC Player of the Week

 Alabama A&M senior guard Garrett Hicks (Madison, Ala.) produced a tremendous performance this past week, earning him his second career Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor as announced by the league on Tuesday, November 29.
 
The sharpshooting Hicks averaged 17.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting a blistering .571 beyond the arc (8-of-14) in a pair of games. He also shot .520 from the floor, going 13-of-25.
 
He opened the week facing Louisiana Tech (11/23) in the opener of for the program’s new 6,000-seat Event Center, going 6-of-10 from three-point range and 7-of-14 from the field to finish with 22 points in 35 minutes. He also added four boards, four assists and a steal.
 
Hicks would put up another impressive performance against a 6-1 UT-Southern (11/25) team, finishing with 16 points, five assists, four caroms and another steal.
 
He becomes the first Bulldog to earn the honor this year and collects the second of his career, the other coming on January 26, 2021. He also earned the league’s Impact Player of the Week on November 19, 2021.
 
Hicks and Alabama A&M return to action on Friday, December 9 when they host Lipscomb. That game is set for 7 p.m. in a throwback at venerable Elmore Gymnasium.
