U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has joined Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and other lawmakers in requesting that four telecommunications companies provide Congress with all records that were shared with former Special Counsel Jack Smith. These records are related to the investigation into the events of January 6 and reportedly include private phone call information.
The request follows a recent disclosure by the FBI that the Biden administration accessed private phone calls of eight U.S. Senators, including Senator Tuberville, during Jack Smith’s investigation. Last week, several senators sent a letter to the Department of Justice and the FBI demanding all documents connected to this surveillance.
The letters to the telecommunications companies were signed by Senators Tuberville, Grassley, Ron Johnson (R-WI), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Thom Tillis (R-NC), John Kennedy (R-LA), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Katie Britt (R-AL), and Ashley Moody (R-FL), as well as Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA).
Senator Tuberville stated, “The FBI recently revealed that the Biden administration spied on the private phone calls of 8 U.S. Senators, including Sen. Tuberville, as part of Jack Smith’s investigation. Last week, the Senators sent a letter demanding the DOJ and FBI produce all records relating to the matter.”
Senator Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and serves on the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging Committees.
