U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville visited Dothan, Alabama, where he participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for a new auditorium at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center (WPSC) and addressed members of the Fort Rucker-Wiregrass chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).
Senator Tuberville played a role in securing nearly $8 million for the WPSC auditorium as part of the fiscal year 2024 appropriations package. During his visit, city officials announced that the new facility will be named after his father, Charles R. Tuberville Jr., who served in World War II. While at WPSC, Senator Tuberville also spoke to policy academy candidates on their first day of training.
“My dad was my hero, and a hero in the military too,” said Sen. Tuberville regarding the naming announcement. “For the City of Dothan to name something after him here at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center is a great honor for my family. This place will be here for a long time, and I look forward to supporting continued growth of the Wiregrass Public Safety Center and the region as a whole.”
At an AUSA luncheon held later that day, Senator Tuberville addressed approximately 600 service members, veterans, and local leaders about his legislative work in Washington, D.C.
