Chairman of the Senate Education & the American Family Subcommittee, Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), has introduced a resolution that recognizes the contributions of career and technical education (CTE) educators and work-based learning coordinators. The move coincides with Career and Technical Education Month in February.

Senator Tuberville, who previously worked as a college football coach before his political career according to his official website (https://www.tuberville.senate.gov/), emphasized the importance of preparing students for workforce demands shaped by technology advancements like artificial intelligence.

“Our schools should make sure students are set up to succeed in life, not just the classroom,” said Senator Tuberville. “AI has changed the game when it comes to today’s workforce. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be preparing students to be successful in today’s job market starting in high school or even earlier. As Chairman of the Education and the American Family Subcommittee, I’m focused on expanding technical and career educational opportunities for our young people. I’m grateful for Alabama’s career and technical educators who are equipping the next generation with real-world skills that will lead to good-paying jobs.”

The resolution was co-introduced by Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), Ranking Member of the Senate Education and the American Family Subcommittee, and is supported by Senators Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Katie Britt (R-AL), Ted Budd (R-NC), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Jim Justice (R-WV), Tim Kaine (D-VA), Angus King (I-ME), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Ed Markey (D-MA), Adam Schiff (D-CA.), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD).

Endorsements for this resolution include organizations such as the American Federation of Teachers, Association for Career and Technical Education, Advance CTE, and National Education Association.

Last year, Senator Tuberville led a subcommittee hearing focused on workforce development challenges facing high-demand industries. Two witnesses from Alabama provided testimony during this session.

Senator Tuberville represents Alabama in the U.S. Senate, serving on several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging Committees. His legislative priorities also cover areas such as agriculture policy, rural prosperity initiatives, border security measures, national defense issues, education policy development—including engagement with residents across Alabama through multiple district offices—and efforts related to student-athlete protections as detailed on his official site: https://www.tuberville.senate.gov/.
