UAH Falters in Tuesday Matchup against AUM

The University of Alabama in Huntsville volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision (25-20, 18-25, 21-25, 22-25) to Auburn Montgomery at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on Tuesday night in Gulf South Conference action. UAH slides to 11-15 (7-5 GSC), while AUM improves to 13-14 (7-5 GSC).
 
Senior Ally Kennis had a stellar attacking performance in the Tuesday contest with a career-high 15 kills to go along with a team-best .355 hitting percentage, as she also added two total blocks and one dig defensively.
 
Kiara Hill rated second on the night with eight kills, followed by Gracie McGee with seven successful swats. Freshmen Kaila Sisk and Caroline Moyer both notched five kills to give UAH five players with five kills or more.
 
Savannah Rutledge generated a season-best 41 assists, as she also added 12 digs to notch her first career double-double as a Charger. Rutledge additionally notched a team-leading four service aces.
 
Tatiana Bonilla tied for Rutledge with 12 digs in the matchup, with a total of six Chargers notching multi-dig nights.
 
The Chargers took the early lead on Tuesday night with a 25-20 win in the first set, as the squad withstood a late push by the Warhawks in the frame.
 
AUM bounced back in the second set to win 25-18 by scoring 10 of the last 13 points in the set, and the Warhawks would take the match at 2-1 in the third on a 25-21 win in the stanza.
 
The Warhawks again benefitted from a late rally in the fourth set, sealing the four-set victory over the Chargers with a 25-22 win in the fourth.
 
UAH is back in action on Friday for the program’s Pink Night against Montevallo. First serve set for 6 p.m. in Spragins Hall.
