UAH Hosts Pair in Weekend Home GSC Matchups

The Chargers enter the weekend with a 6-2 overall record and 2-1 in GSC play after taking down West Alabama by a score of 69-67 in overtime on Monday.
 
Chaney Johnson guided the Chargers in the win over the Tigers with a season-high 29 points to go along with eight rebounds. Johnson remains atop the GSC with 20.6 points per game through eight games in the 2022-23 season.
 
UAH benefitted by strong free throw shooting to overcome UWA as the Chargers went 14-for-21 as a team from the line, and the Chargers are now ranked third in the GSC in free-throw percentage at 76.7 percent. 
 
Lee opens the weekend with a 2-1 overall record and 2-1 in Gulf South Conference play after topping Montevallo on Monday with a score of 73-57. The Flames offense is led by a pair of players averaging over 16 points per game including Jayce Willingham (18.0) and Beyuan Hendricks (16.7).
 
Shorter starts out the weekend’s slate with a 3-4 overall record that includes a 1-2 mark in GSC play, following a 74-58 loss to Auburn Montgomery at home on Monday. The Hawks feature two players with over 13 points per game including Raphael Houssou (13.7) and Ricky Knight Jr. (13.3).
 
After this weekend’s matchups, UAH travels to Cleveland, Mississippi, next Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game at Delta State.
