Representative Dale W. Strong has successfully obtained a $7 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for terminal improvements at Huntsville International Airport. The funds, awarded from the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Airport Terminal Program, will support various renovations at the airport, including the expansion of the concourse, the addition of ADA compliant restrooms, a nursing room, terminal escalators, and an expansion of the terminal public area near the ticket counters.
In a statement regarding the grant, Representative Strong emphasized the importance of investing in Huntsville International Airport to enhance the travel experience for passengers and support economic development efforts in North Alabama and Southern Tennessee. He expressed his pride in seeing taxpayer dollars being used to benefit the local community: "It is crucial that the airport continue supporting economic development efforts and serve as a reliable transportation hub for those in North Alabama and Southern Tennessee. As your Representative, I am always proud to see our hard-earned tax dollars returned home."
Huntsville International Airport has gained recognition for its exceptional services, recently being named the No. 2 Best Small Airport in the U.S. The airport serves the fast-growing metro area of Huntsville, Alabama, which is also the largest city in the state.
This recent grant follows a previous achievement by Representative Strong, who secured a $4.1 million dollar grant for Huntsville International Airport in November.
These investments in airport infrastructure will not only benefit the travelers but also contribute to the economic growth and development of the region.
