U.S. Representative Dale W. Strong, a Republican from Alabama, has been appointed to the influential Appropriations Committee by House Republican Leadership during his second term in Congress.
“It’s past time we put America First. Those that serve on this committee are not seeking to be popular and are willing to take the tough votes to save America for future generations. Chairman Tom Cole understands the changes that must be made, and I am honored to serve alongside him. Our time is now!” said Representative Dale W. Strong.
Representative Tom Cole of Oklahoma, who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, commented on Strong's selection: “I welcome Dale to the Committee and look forward to working with him. His leadership in local government and lifelong commitment to public service uniquely position him for this role. I believe he will be a valuable asset to the Committee as we work to restore conservative ideals and responsibly fund the federal government.”
The Appropriations Committee plays a crucial role in federal spending decisions as outlined by the U.S. Constitution: “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law.” The committee is responsible for overseeing all discretionary spending and evaluating how federal tax dollars are utilized.
“Alabama has a decades-spanning history of powerful service on the Appropriations Committee. This assignment ensures our state's historical influence on how federal dollars are spent continues,” added Strong.
In upcoming days, the House Republican Conference will officially ratify recommendations from its Steering Committee regarding these appointments. Representative Strong will become the first Republican from Alabama’s 5th Congressional District to serve on this committee.
